It’s Not Complicated
It’s actually very simple
For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:30
Man and religion complicate Jesus, when in reality He is as simple as the verse above. The key is to follow, not try to keep up with. If we enter into a life with Him, we must do so with an open heart and mind, allowing Him to shape us, rather than trying to make ourselves into what we think He wants us to be.
Too often, we try to help Him with His burden, when all He wants is to lighten ours. He didn’t come into this world to abolish the law, but He didn’t come to beat us over the head with it either. His purpose is not to condemn and punish, but rather to take our condemnation away by His sacrifice for us.
I’m no expert on any of this, and I don’t have to be. Right now, my understanding of God is basic and simple; He loves us more than we can fathom, and all He requires of us is we sit at His feet and learn about Him, and learn to love Him the way He loves us.
It’s similar to school; we start in kindergarten, go through high school, and if we want to continue, go on to college. Right now, I feel like I’m in about the first grade, but I’m excited about learning and can’t wait to get to class each day!
