If Ya Gotta Go To Sadsville
Be sure and get a roundtrip ticket
And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:7
The peace of God definitely transcends my understanding, but it’s one of the things—maybe the biggest thing—I’m hoping for.
I am at peace some of the time, but only to the degree I understand it, and it can be a fleeting thing. Sometimes I catch myself in a funk of one sort or another, and I almost always wonder how I got there. More and more, what I’m realizing is, I didn’t get there, I went there.
I think maybe that’s part of what we don’t understand about God’s peace; it’s available to us all the time, and the only reason we don’t have it all the time, is because we choose not to.
I think it’s okay to feel and experience emotions. If there’s a reason to be sad, it’s healthy to let the feelings in (or out), as long as we don’t let them stay too long. It’s okay to take a trip to Sadsville, but we need to make sure we get a roundtrip ticket.
