I… um… OUCH!
For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.” Hebrews 8:12
Wickedness? Ouch! I know I’ve done some bad things, but I never thought of myself as wicked. And, the good thing is, God doesn’t think of us that way either. When He looks down on us and sees us doing something we shouldn’t be doing, He doesn’t smack us upside the head and tell us to stop being wicked. No, He forgives us and forgets what we’ve done.
That, my friends is the definition of unconditional love. And, it’s not just amazing, it’s inconceivable. It’s beyond my comprehension that God can love us this much!
We can love others the way God loves us. (No, really, we can!) But, we can’t do it on our own; we have to let Jesus do it through us. This is one of the miracles of life; we can do all things through Christ. And, we can do nothing without Him.
What a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins He bears. He doesn’t “bare” them—show them to the world—he “bears” them—takes them upon Himself—and makes them go away. And, the more we focus on Him and allow Him to guide us, the less He will need to bear, and the less He will have to make go away.
