Free At Last!

Or… caught in a trap?

What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? Romans 6:1

Grace can be a confusing thing. Some use it to justify their sins—which it does—while others use it as license to continue to sin—which it is not.

We will sin, there’s not much doubt about that, but I believe the more we focus on God and His love for us, the less we will sin, as the more like Him we become. And, I hope I’m wrong about all that, in the sense I hope one day I will no longer sin. Maybe that day will come when my spirit leaves this earthly body to spend eternity with God, but wouldn’t it be great if it comes sooner?

The fact is, God’s gift of grace does not free us to continue sinning, it frees us to not sin. Thinking we can just go on our merry way doing anything we please is a trap set by the devil. He wants us to believe we’re free to sin, so he can run rampant in our lives, destroying our testimony.

Our testimony is the example we set. It’s what others see when they look at how we live our lives. We are who we are, and we will most likely never be perfect, but when we set our eyes upon Jesus, we’ll be getting better all the time. And that’s a fact!
