About ten years ago, I made the comment, “All I want is peace.” Life was tossing me about, I was battling the demons of this world with every ounce of strength I could muster, and I was losing the war.
What I didn’t realize at the time, was how blessed I was. I had a wonderful wife, a beautiful, loving family, and more “stuff” than I surely needed. What was missing—what I truly “needed”—was faith. I had faith, but I’d put it in a closet or drawer somewhere, and wasn’t using it.
Peace is the key that unlocks the door to joy, and when we are joyful, I have no doubt the Lord smiles. When we have faith in God, He will fill us with peace, love and joy, and we will find rest in green pastures beside quiet waters.
He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters Psalm 23:2
