I’m Not Even Close!

As God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, we are to clothe ourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.

We should also bear in mind that He chose us, we did not choose Him. What we did, is accept His call, and when we did He began to fill us with His love, thereby allowing us to clothe ourselves in His godly raiment.

I look at the list of things God wants me to be clothed with, and I feel like I’m wearing rags. I have a little of each of those things in my wardrobe, but none

of them are of the quality they could be. I have tried throughout my life to do these things—to put them on—but with little or no success. I just can’t seem to find the ones that fit me.

I try to be compassionate, but I’m usually not. I’m a kind person, but I could be kinder; I’m sometimes humble, but more often the prideful me takes over; I’m frequently gentle; and patience… fuhgettaboutit, I’m not even close on that one.

But, I know this: I am one of God’s chosen; and therefore, I am holy and dearly loved in His eyes. He is fitting me with a new suit as we speak, and one day I will be clothed in His best.
