Winter Visitor

I’ve been trying to post a picture on Facebook all day! I’m not sure what the problem is, Hawk 1-31-15but I’m gonna go at it from a different direction. All it is, is a picture of a visitor we had today. Actually, the delay worked out for the best; I wound up getting a better picture when he/she came back this afternoon. Not as good a picture as I’d like, but hey, it’s a cell phone!

That’s not a decoration on top of the umbrella!

Rebel Without A Cause

If you need something done—or, better yet, don’t think it can be done—just tell me I can’t do it. Oh yes, I’m a bit rebellious—maybe stubborn is a better word—and if I’m told I can’t do something, you best stand aside. Read the rest of this entry »

If It’s Only Make Believe…

It seems marriage is no longer considered a forever thing. In fact, it isn’t even considered necessary (unless, of course, it affects your health insurance). Read the rest of this entry »

It’s Not the Fall That Hurts…

The saying goes, “It’s not the fall that hurts, it’s the sudden stop.” But, it occurred to me recently, it’s not the sudden stop that hurts us, it’s when we don’t have the will to get back up that the true damage is done. Read the rest of this entry »

I Gotta Wear Shades!

my-futures-so-bright (2)My ears are huge! No, wait… we already discussed that.

My future is bright! I know it is, because my faith in God is strong and it’s getting stronger all the time. It’s like a snowball rolling downhill, getting bigger as it goes.

And, when it comes to prosperity, prosperity does not necessarily concern finances and possessions. God prospers us in many ways, and though money and possessions are great, I wouldn’t trade the abundant peace and joy God has given me for any amount of either one.

I’ve said all this before, but I’m gonna say it again: The definition of hope is to look forward to something expecting it to happen. Hope is the key that unlocks the door to joy. Faith is the vehicle that will deliver us to the door. I’m hoping for a future so bright, I gotta wear shades!

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11

Does This Grin Make My Ears Look Big?

I’ve always been self-conscious about the size of my ears, but I’ve learned to accept myself as I am, knowing God made me, and He thinks I look pretty good just the way I am. Read the rest of this entry »

If It’s Not the Whole Truth…

It used to be, if a company was found to be publicly making false claims about their product or service, they were admonished, and directed to remove the misleading ad. Today, it seems, there is very little concern regarding what companies (or the government) tell us in order to sell their product, service, or ideas.

The thing is, we, or they, might fool some of the people some of the time (some of them all the time), but God knows the real truth.

God knows our hearts, and He also knows we’re never going to be perfect. Try as we might, we will make mistakes, and that includes stretching the truth at times (I’m trying to go easy on us here). But God sent Jesus to stand in our stead, and Jesus never lied.

Been There, Done That

We’ve all experienced people who are loud and overbearing, and some of us have even been (or are) that person. A loud and aggressive person can certainly be annoying. Avoiding such a person might be the easy way out, but maybe a forgiving and tolerant approach would be better. Read the rest of this entry »

Until Death Do Us Part?

Do they even say that anymore? It seems marriage is no longer considered a forever thing. In fact, in many instances, it seems isn’t even considered necessary (unless, of course, it affects your health insurance). Read the rest of this entry »

Speak Your Truth Quietly

We should always consider our thoughts prior to expressing them. Angry words spoken in haste can be harmful, and cannot be taken back. Once we’ve said something to someone, it will forever remain in their mind no matter how often or sincerely we apologize. Read the rest of this entry »
