We can do our best to be at peace with others, but that doesn’t mean we have to agree with everyone, or approve of what they do. Too often these days, we are expected to not only tolerate evil, but accept it as being right. We can accept that others have freedom of choice to do as they wish, but we don’t have to concede that what they do is acceptable behavior.
On the other hand, we shouldn’t require another to believe and act as we do, in order to be at peace with them. It is possible to love someone we disagree with, without approving of what they do. Pursuing peace is not a matter of negotiating our beliefs, but rather a matter of accepting the fact some things are best left to God.
All we need to do is love one another. God will handle the rest.
Let him turn away from evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and pursue it. 1Peter 3:11
