The saying goes, “It’s not the fall that hurts, it’s the sudden stop.” But, it occurred to me recently, it’s not the sudden stop that hurts us, it’s when we don’t have the will to get back up that the true damage is done.
A well-known political columnist who suffered a catastrophic “fall”, that rendered him a quadriplegic, is quoted as saying, “…the catastrophe that awaits everyone from a single false move, wrong turn, fatal encounter. Every life has such a moment. What distinguishes us is whether — and how — we ever come back.”
Satan and the world will do their best to discourage us—especially when it comes to pursuing a godly life—and if we give up because of the troubles they present, we will surely fail, or at the least be delayed.
If you get knocked down, get up, dust yourself off, and try, try again. Never give up!
For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast unto the end; Hebrews 3:14
