The Best Job I Ever Had

Logging 1I’ve worked on farms, managed restaurants, been a logger, and spent the larger portion of my life in the construction industry. The job I enjoyed most was logging.

I worked with a group of men—most of them much younger than I was—who took great pride in their jobs. It was hard work, but at the end of each day, we could say we’d battled the elements, and terrain of the rugged northwest mountains, and won (well, maybe it was a draw).

I wonder how much more rewarding that job—any of my jobs—would’ve been if I’d done my work as unto the Lord.

If you have a job doing something you love, be thankful. If you have a job you aren’t especially happy with, try doing it as unto the Lord. I’m betting it will change your attitude toward your job.

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men. Colossians 3:23
