When I was a teenager, I would often watch Wide World of Sports on Saturday afternoon. It always began with a short film clip showing someone being victorious, and someone else in the agonizing throes of defeat.
Jesus was in agony on the cross, and the pain on His face was there for the world to see. And yet, He was victorious. To His enemies, it appeared they had won. They had made a spectacle of this “Jesus”, a mere man who dared think Himself the Son of God. Little did they know, they had been set up, and this “man” would, three days later, rise from the grave, defeating sin and death forever.
Every day, we should wear a huge smile, displaying the thrill of victory Jesus has won for us.
