We are the proverbial lump of clay, and clay cannot mold itself into the beautiful vessel. The vessel must be shaped and made for the purpose it will be used. And, not every vessel will serve the same purpose. Read the rest of this entry »

What we all want most is to be happy, and, to me, happiness is inner peace and joy. I firmly believe the key to peace is being content no matter what our circumstances. God has a plan for each of us, but in our lives there will be rain and sunshine, darkness and light, good and bad. Even though we might have everything by the world’s standards, and want for nothing, we will suffer disappointments, pain, and loss. Even the most faithful servants of God are tested and tried. Our number one hope should be to spend eternity with God. End of story.
“For I know the plans I have for you”, declares the Lord, “Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11

It’s sometimes funny what our first reaction is to something we see. The hotel we stayed in recently wasn’t the nicest we’ve stayed in, but it was convenient and clean, so no
complaints. The first thing I noticed when we walked into the room was the microwave, and my instant comment was, “Hey, look! A Jetsons microwave!” The Jetsons, an animated TV series, was a portrayal of what life might be like in the year 2062. The funny thing about my microwave comment is, even in their “futuristic” home the Jetsons didn’t have a microwave, because they hadn’t been invented yet. They did, however, have a machine that prepared entire meals.
All this should tell you two things; The Jetsons was on TV a long time ago, and I’m really old!

While on my morning 3.5 mile stroll, I stopped for a moment to marvel at this view, then took a picture of it. It brought to mind a story I wrote some years ago about a bus ride I took from Phoenix to Amarillo when I was a youngster. If you’d like to read the story, click on the title below. If not, have a great weekend and enjoy the view wherever you are!

I can’t count the times I’ve almost bumped my head, stubbed my toe, or nearly pulled in front of another car on the highway. When we manage to avoid these mishaps, we often attribute it to our “sixth sense”, but could it be angels helping us just in the nick of time? Read the rest of this entry »

I’ve noticed when it comes to politics there are basically two types of people; those who get involved and try to encourage others to get involved, and those who are being encouraged to get involved and want nothing to do with politics. Both groups will occasionally drift toward the other group, and some from each group will jump from one to the other, then, return to their former group. Me, I’ve been the virtual ping pong ball, frequently going from one side of the proverbial table to the other and, to be honest with you, I’m physically, mentally, and spiritually exhausted.
