These days, people are fond of labeling their adversaries as sheep, inferring—among other things, but in most part—that they are following their political favorite out of blind loyalty. In many instances, people follow a candidate or elected representative without truly knowing who they are, or what they intend to do with the power vested to them. And, more importantly, people put their hope and trust in government or government hopefuls, giving no thought to the moral and godly character the person does or does not have.
In general, we are bombarded daily with ungodly messages, and everything we see going on around us attempts to tell us God is no longer relevant Even our government and those who strive to become a part of it smile and promise they will take care of us, while, at the same time, they allow God and anything that recognizes Him to be removed and/or banned from public buildings, schools, and so on. They use excuses such as fairness and diversity to defend their actions, while the truth is they do these things for votes so they can remain in office, or gain office, and hold on to or garner for themselves power and monetary gain.
In the Bible, when God’s people were going into battle, many times they sent the worshipers out in front of the warriors. When we choose to be thankful in the midst of our battles, we’re making a way for Him to lead us to victory! We should not fear what is going on around us, nor should we feel harassed and helpless. We should keep our eyes, minds and hearts on Jesus, and do the best we can to show others God is alive, God is still in charge, and ultimately, God’s goodness and love will overcome the evil running rampant on this earth.
When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” Matthew 9:36-38
