Who’s On First?

snoopy at batIn baseball, the player who bats second in the lineup is someone who usually makes contact with the ball. The plan is, the lead-off batter will get on base and the number two batter will move him to the next base, so the player batting in the third position can bring the lead runner home with a base hit.

The player who scores the run and the player who gets the base hit to drive him in get all the credit and headlines, while the player who did his job as the second batter is seldom noticed. But, he’s an important part of the process.

We’re all part of God’s team, and our part in His plan is important. He doesn’t love the stars of His team any more than He loves the ones who don’t get the headlines. The world might not notice the little things we do, but in God’s eyes, we’re all super stars!

For even as we have many members in one body, and all the members don’t have the same function, so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. Romans 12:4-5

For someone who is so un-athletic, I love sports analogies! Good one, Charlie.
