This song by the Bellamy Brothers came to mind as I wrote this mornings daily encouragement:

As we grow closer to God and begin to understand Him more, we’re happier and we smile more. When we’re happy and smiling, it spreads to those we encounter, and we will often receive a genuine, happy smile in return. That’s how it works! Our genuine how-ya-doin’-friend smile reflects the peace and joy we feel, causing others to react in a positive way.

Jesus instructs us to “let” our light shine, not make it shine, and all we have to do to let our light shine is realize how much God loves us. Because, I don’t know about you, but when I think about how much God loves me, it makes me smile!

In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your father in heaven. Matthew 5:16
