Be A Dreamcatcher

lake rise 3-10-2016 quote 2There are times when we become physically, mentally, and even spiritually exhausted. We look at the chaos around us and wonder what, exactly, we’re fighting for, and we begin to question our ideals, goals, and dreams, and wonder why we ever had them in the first place. Is It Too Late?

Today 6-10-2016 quote 3I love mornings, but there is no joy in my heart on this morning as I watch the sun coming up behind the trees. No, this morning there’s a lump in my throat, and an empty pain in my stomach. My mind is almost numb. Read the rest of this entry »

We Are Who We Are

Yesterday I talked about one of my “things”. You know; those little mottos and credos we Barry's house - quoteall have and try to live by. Yesterday, it was about looking at the good stuff—counting our blessings—and not focusing on the bad things. Today’s, is similar, but not quite the same thing; “doing the best we can do each and every day.” Read the rest of this entry »

Guy Fieri’s Got Nothing On Us!

In keeping with one of my themes (I have several, ya know) I am compelled to report the following:

We recently took a leisurely, scenic, drive to Arizona to visit my boyhood pal, Barry and his lovely wife, Marilyn. We spent only two and a half days at their home, but it was wonderful. It was as though Barry and I had never been apart, and Sherry and Marilyn hit it off too. I think they enjoyed hearing me and Barry tell our tall tales. Read the rest of this entry »

A New Day ~ A Good Day

If we start our day worried and fearful about the myriad things life might throw at us in the coming day, we allow fear to rob us of God’s peace and joy. On the other hand, if we dive into our day knowing no matter what comes our way, God will be there to assist us, we will be filled with faith and gladness, and God’s peace and joy will be ours.

Too many times, we worry and fret over situations, only to find they work out just fine in the end. All we can do is the best we can do with whatever situations might arise.

Everything might not go exactly the way we want it to, but we’ll be at peace and be filled with joy, knowing it went the way God wanted it to go.

Be still! Be patient! Be faithful! God knows what He’s doing!

Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing: thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness;Psalm 30:11

I Rest My Case

Today 6-10-2016 quote 2Like the closing arguments of an attorney at the end of a trial, Paul powerfully pounds home his point in the last two verses of chapter eight of his letter to the church at Rome. I can envision him standing before the jury, straining forward with a look of determination, as he emotionally delivers these words.

For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39

I have tested the presence and patience of God; I have ignored it, denied it, and tried to pretend He wasn’t there, yet even in times of deepest darkness, I could always feel His presence. There have been many times in my life when, though I did not deserve it, He has shown Himself to me in wondrous ways. In spite of me, in spite of my failure to love Him, in spite of my walking arm-in-arm with demons of all type, He stayed with me, His love never wavering, His arms ever reaching to hold me. He would allow nothing to separate me from Him.

I rest my case.

It Is What It Is

I’m a live for today kind of guy, and that hasn’t always been a good thing. In my younger days—most of my life actually—I lived life like there was no tomorrow. It was full speed ahead and dodging torpedoes. But since I’ve realized how much God loves me—and He loved me even when I didn’t know it—I live for today in a different way. house 6-7-2016 ~ quote

Nowadays, I live for today simply because today is all there is; until tomorrow, and today or tomorrow can’t be enjoyed if we’re busy lamenting yesterday. Life is not the proverbial bowl of cherries; it is what it is, and sometimes it’s the pits. But from the cherry pit comes the cherry tree and cherry blossom, and from the blossom comes the cherry. (Charlie loves cherries!)

Our world revolves around the sun, and the seasons come and go. The rain will come, but the sun will also shine. Winter gives way to spring, and brutal summers relent to cool crisp fall. Each is good in its own way, and bad in another, but when all is said and done, all things are necessary, and it’s all good!

For, behold, the winter is past. The rain is over and gone. Song of Solomon 2:11

Chasing Our Dreams

When life is flying by and you feel like you’re out of control and you’ve lost control, step aside and be still. Rest and find a quiet place where you can clear your head of everything. And simply say to yourself, “God is in charge. God is good. God is love.”

Far and Beyond

bird house - quoteIf we think back to the most excited and happy we’ve ever been, the event or place we recall will most likely have something to do with love. But, just for a moment, imagine a love far and beyond any love you’ve ever known; imagine happiness more joyous than any you’ve ever experienced. … You know what? Read the rest of this entry »

A Thousand Times, Then Wow!

It seems we often take so much God has done for granted. The world around us is full of wondrous things, and yet we walk through it each day, oblivious to most of them. I dare say if we were to compile a list of wonderful things God has created or done, we would not be able to complete it in our lifetime. Read the rest of this entry »
