Have You Got Time?

Tulip trees quoteIt’s not true for everyone, but in this country, most of us have plenty of everything. In fact, we have so much we take it all for granted. And yet, we often complain.  I sometimes catch myself grumbling when things aren’t perfect, or I want something I can’t afford. “Want”, being the key word. The reality of it is I have everything I need and more! I have more than enough to eat, a house that’s too big, two nice vehicles that are always full of gas, and I can hop into either one and go just about anywhere I want to go any time I want to.

So your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will overflow with new wine. Proverbs 3:10

Life In A Bobsled

Sometimes I find myself in a rut; so steeped in routine that each morning I feel like I’m in a bobsled race, tucked into the sled—my life—speeding around the same course day after day, every turn familiar; every straightaway zipping by too quickly.

But I’m learning to remind myself each morning that God is with me in truth and love, and His grace, mercy and peace are mine for the asking.

4-8-17 6 - 2

Maybe it is the same old sled and the same old ride, but you control the brakes. So slow down and watch for sudden blessings. You never know what’s around the next curve.

Grace, mercy and peace from God the Father and from Jesus Christ, the Father’s son, will be with us in truth and love. 2 John 1:3

day 2 - 6 QUOTEWhat would this world be like if God wasn’t in it? Well, think on this: If God were not in the world, love would not be in the world.

Yes, there is evil and greed, murder and mayhem, but there is also love. God is here. And He is in control. I know, especially when bad things happen, we sometimes wonder how God can be in control. But it is at those times we must turn away from the bad, and focus on the good—God and His love for us.

I believe we can go boldly into each day without fear, knowing our God goes into the day with us to fight against all that will come against us, and… He will give us victory.

Believe it!

… For the Lord your God is the one who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory.” Deuteronomy 20:3-4

What’s In Your Heart?

river-walk-3-quote (3)I used to wonder how a person could pray without ceasing then I realized prayer is not always about asking for something, and it should actually more often be about praising God and thanking Him. Praise and thanksgiving are prayer, and that’s how we can pray without ceasing! God is not complicated. Keep it simple; focus on the good stuff, constantly thanking and praising Him for His love and faithfulness. He not only hears the prayers that come out of our mouths; He hears our hearts.

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. 1st Thessalonians 5:16-18

Keep On Smilin’

I’ve been there; weak and worn out, beat down, with no hope of things getting better. Yes, there have been times when I felt I had nothing to look forward to and no prospects for the future.

But, even before my faith in God was strong, I was somehow always able to find the strength and resolve and go forward. But, I have to tell you, when you’re at the bottom, and you can’t even see the first rung of that ladder, there is no feeling worse than that.

I sometimes ponder those dreary, hopeless days and think how different they would’ve been if I’d had the faith I have now. Faith gives us hope, and hope is the key to peace and joy. When we have faith in God, knowing He is the ultimate authority, and He loves us, we can smile through the rain and laugh at the pain.

What strength do I have, that I should still hope? What prospects, that I should be patient? Job 6:11

Beauty and Blessings

Beauty and Blessings

I was just sitting on the back deck, taking a break, when I noticed this scene. Sometimes, we can have something beautiful right in front of us, and we don’t see it. Now, in this case, there was a multitude of beautiful things to look at, but when this came into focus, it made me say, “Wow!” I’m always talking about focusing on the good stuff, but I have to admit it’s sometimes difficult to zero in on just one thing when we’re surrounded by beauty and blessings.

Have a great day!

Before and After

before 5As most of you know, we moved to a beautiful place about 22 months ago. Ray Brown and I have worked pretty much non-stop, “fixing the place up”, and I’ve pretty much decided we’ll never be finished. Seems like every time I finish one thing, I find another one I want to do. Read the rest of this entry »

The Moon Touching the Rainbow

Sometimes, I am overwhelmed by the blessings I’ve been given. I’m healthy, I have more than I need of most moon and rainboweverything, but most of all… I am loved. What more can I ask? Read the rest of this entry »

Flags, Flowers, and Reflections

I am in awe of the sacrifices the men and women of our military have made and continue to make for us. I count each and every one of them among my greatest blessings.

I Don’t Care

The poem is one of many I’ve written for Sherry. We celebrated our nineteenth anniversary this past week, and  we intend to continue celebrating our life together for many years to come. God has blessed us so much, but the greatest blessing of all is the unconditional love He gives us, and an ever increasing ability to love each other the way He loves us.  Read the rest of this entry »
