Another day in the kitchen and at the domino table. Made an awesome apricot cobbler, messed up a batch of almond joy whatchacallits, cooked a great casserole for dinner, and got thrashed at the domino table again. Those guys show no mercy to this rookie dominoer. (<— new word) Read the rest of this entry »

The Cruise ~ Day Nine ~ Post Partyun Depression

I don’t know about the rest of my mates (that’s cruise talk for family and friends traveling together), but as we went through the final gyrations of the seven-day cruise, I was a bit depressed. We steamed along at full speed for seven days, then it seemed it was suddenly over. Goodbyes were sprinkled with hopeful we’ll-see-ya-again-soons, tempered with wondering if that were true. I tagged these mixed emotions as post partyun depression.

When we left Cozumel, the sea was a bit rough; maybe not so to the seasoned sailor/cruiser, but to us landlubbers, it was mighty bumpy. The previous nights, we were gently rocked to sleep, but on this one, some of us were holding on to something as we bumped and thumped toward home. Read the rest of this entry »

We’ve been cuttin up and actin a fool for most of this trip, but lest anyone get the wrong idea, the main purpose of this cruise is to celebrate the two lovely ladies in this picture.
Mom/Wilma—the birthday gal—is the redhead, and the other beauty is her sister, my Aunt Doris. Ada, their other sister couldn’t join us for the cruise, and it sure woulda been nice had she been able to be with us. Read the rest of this entry »

I’ve traveled extensively, but only in the U.S., and as any of you who’ve wandered our great land know, there are times when the locals are hard to understand. They tok funny ya know. Lot’s of people on this big boat are from Texas, but I understand them quite easily, and it’s a safe bet you don’t have to ask a person where he/she is from, but rather, what part of Texas are they from. We haven’t seen land since Sunday, and though I’ve always known how large the Gulf of Mexico is, it’s still fascinating. I can’t imagine how the first sailors and travelers must have felt as they traversed the Atlantic in vessels not much larger than the lifeboats on this enormous ship. Read the rest of this entry »
