Doing good things—God things—is not a matter of choosing to do them, it’s a matter of surrendering to God’s will for our lives, and allowing Him to work through us. And, if there is any glory to be attained, it should be His, not ours. When we understand God’s love, and realize that all he requires of us is to love Him, we will be in His will, and all we are and do will have His love at its core. We will then be—as He created us—in His image.

4-8-17 3 quote

If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing. 1 Corinthians 13:3

Where We Are Now

Our desire to love God with all our heart and soul should be our quest—our reason for living—and if ever we feel as though we’ve failed, or feel we don’t love Him as much as we should, we should not despair, but press on.

For though we diligently seek God, we will sometimes feel we’re far from finding Him. And, it is at those times we should hold onto the hope that we are always getting closer, and continue to strain toward what is ahead, forgetting what is behind.

God knows our every need and we would do well to allow Him to provide for them. We should travel light, carrying nothing and knowing when we reach the destination He leads us to, our provisions will have been delivered there prior to our arrival.

4-5-17 2 quote

Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is head.

Philippians 3:13

He Never Let Go

As a young man, I was afraid of nothing and rebelled at everything. I was wild, always testing the rules and boundaries, and actually made the statement, more than once, that I didn’t think I’d live to see my 21st birthday. I lived life like there would be no tomorrow, and for most of my life I was amazed I was still standing.

Then things changed; I didn’t have one of those lightning bolt experiences, and the fact is I wasn’t even looking for help or seeking to change. It just began, as I quite suddenly realized I’d lived far past my expectations not because I was isaiah-41-13unafraid, but because I was a part of God’s plan. I learned that even when I wasn’t aware of Him, or His plan, He was still using me.

All those years… years when I thought it was me against the world… He never let go of my hand. I am in awe of God’s love.

It Is That Simple

Many times, we have difficulty following God and becoming who He intends for us to be because we think we have to do things to impress Him. I’m convinced all God wants us to do is love Him, and when we love Him it opens our hearts so He’s able to fill us with His love and we can accomplish our part of His plan.

Many of you are probably shaking your heads and saying, “It’s just not that simple”. I think it is. I believe we can be so full of love for God we won’t be able to get enough of Him. With each passing day, we will seek more, trust more, and do more for God. Not because we choose to, but because the love of God within us, given to us when we received His grace, causes us to.

Through him and for his names sake, we received grace and apostleship to call people from among all the Gentiles to the obedience that comes from faith. Romans 1:5
