Two Wolves

I tend to expound on the people and things that shaped me into who I am, and the Cherokee legend of the two wolves hits the nail on the head. For too much of my life, I fed the evil within me and allowed it to guide my steps. Fortunately, the good was the more powerful force, and as time went on, I began to feed it, and watched in amazement as it easily overpowered the evil I’d given control to. Looking back, I realize the good wolf within me was made strong by the good people God placed in my path. People like Judge Billy Meck who taught my Sunday school class when I was around the age of ten. It wasn’t just the things he taught me in that class, but even more so, it was the kind of man he was. Truth is, I don’t even know what kind of man Judge Meck was, but I know what kind of man I saw when I was a boy, and that’s how I will always remember him.

The Absence of Love

Darkness is nothing more than the absence of light, evil is the absence of good, and hate is the absence of love. If Satan rules a person’s life, neither God, nor His love is in them. Their judgment and view of all things are distorted by a lack of knowledge only God can give; the difference between right and wrong.

Perhaps if we live our lives in a manner pleasing to God, they will be swayed, not by our battling against them but rather by the fact we continue to love—even them—in the face of their hate for us.

cloudy (2) quote

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Ephesians 6:12

No Place to Hide

My theme of choice lately is just that: “choices“. Life often seems random, and we sometimes feel as though we’re extras in a movie we don’t even like. But I believe it’s more than that, and we can alter the course of our lives–even the lives of others–when we make the right choices. Read the rest of this entry »

Right or Wrong

Right or Wrong

The battle rages on

But nothing really changes

There is good, and there is evil

And I suppose there is something in between

But is there?

I don’t think so

But then, that’s just my opinion

And right or wrong

Some will hate me for it

And, therein lies the problem

The world has become

A society of my-way-or-the-highway

And if you take the wrong road

You are the enemy
