One of my FaceBook friends posted this sign several weeks back and said, “Have y’all ever noticed people think we have an attitude? So, okay, maybe a little one…if you think you have a Texas attitude, this is a great sign to post on your FB page!” Read the rest of this entry »

We proclaim him, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone perfect in Christ. Colossians 1:28
At first reading, this verse seems to say that each person must be taught to be perfect. Not so. What is being said is each person should be given the knowledge that Christ died for us, and we are made perfect by His doing so. Still, there’s that word, “perfect”, again. Too often, it is a word that can discourage us and cause us to fall away from God, rather than continuing to grow closer to Him. What we have to get hold of is the simple fact we cannot be perfect; we can only be as good as our relationship with God is. Does that make sense?
I compare it to sports, in that, to be good at any sport, we must practice; the more we practice a certain move or skill, the easier it is to do, and the better we are at doing it. If you throw a baseball at a target two hundred times a day for ten years, you will (I would hope) begin to hit the target almost every time.
The same is true with our relationship with God; if, for instance, we read Psalm 91 two hundred times a day, we will have it so ingrained in our thoughts, it will be a part of our thinking. I believe when the word and promises of God become a part of our natural thought process, it is then we are one with Him. The more we seek Him, the more like Him we become. He’s perfect, so we’re getting closer all the time.
I may never reach perfection, but I’m sure going to try. I heard a saying once that stuck with me: “Shoot for the moon. If you don’t make it, you’ll land pretty high anyway.”

The following is the rough draft of what will be the introduction to my story. I’ve come to the realization that I write for me, and so I’ve decided my last work should be about me. I may post bits of it as I go along; maybe not. For I’ve realized another thing in recent days, and that is people are far too busy to read. Don’t get me wrong; I understand, and I appreciate those who take time from their busy days to read some of the too, many things I throw at the world in general.
I’m rambling. Catch y’all tomorrow… or the next day. Love ya! C Read the rest of this entry »

One of the kids (grownup now) from the old neighborhood in Buckeye, Arizona was quizzing me on the Internet yesterday about old neighbors, vacant lots we played ball in and the likes. Made me think of this poem I wrote back when I was writing lots of them. It’s called Grass Stains, and I bet everyone of you guys know what I’m talking about.
Posting this to Kellie Elmore’s Free Write Friday, and Poetry Palace’s Thursday Poets Rally #59

Here’s a silly little poem I wrote for absolutely no reason; just one of those random thoughts that seem to race into my mind from time to time…. Read the rest of this entry »
