I’m Your Huckleberry

Do any of you know how much fun it is being me? I mean, I don’t want to sound like I’m boasting, but I love being me. I’m a chunk of coal, a blemished vessel, a box of rocks, you name it; I’m nothing special, but I like who, what, and where I am. And the thing I like best? It’s getting better all the time! I’m Your Huckleberry ~ 7-29-11

From today’s Daily Encouragement:

We are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Ephesians 2:10

That’s what I’m talking about! Here’s the thing that amazes me most: He created me just as I am, flaws and all. He could have made me look like a movie star, made me as smart as Einstein and as strong as Hercules, but He already had some of those kinds of folks, and He needed me to be me. I’m Your Huckleberry ~ 7-28-11

Does it take a special occasion or moment to cause you to tell your spouse how much you love them, how much they mean to you, or how much you appreciate them? Does a coworker or employee have to do something really good for you to compliment them, and tell them what a great job they’re doing; how much you appreciate them? Does a friend have to do something nice for you before you can tell them how glad you are they’re in your life? Does it take a holiday or birthday to get you to call a relative? I’m Your Huckleberry ~ 7-27-11

I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:14

This verse from today’s Daily Encouragement speaks strongly to me about God giving His grace to us, not asking us to earn it. So many times we get caught up in the rules, and the dos and don’ts, that we lose sight of the fact God chose us, not the other way around. Read the rest of this entry »

I’m Your Huckleberry ~ 7-24-11

I was looking at my blog statistics a few minutes ago, and I noticed something interesting. The statistics tell me how many people have visited my blog, and what posts they have read. The thing I noticed was a lot of people missed church today. Read the rest of this entry »

I’m Your Huckleberry ~ 7-23-11

In today’s Daily Encouragement I said, “I have made the statement many times, “I am just the pencil.” I do not write these encouragements to you from a knowledgeable point of view, because the reality of the situation is I have little knowledge of God’s word and His principles. What I do have is a sincere desire to encourage others to love Him.” Read the rest of this entry »

I’m Your Huckleberry ~ 7-22-11

The Sovereign Lord has given me an instructed tongue, to know the word that sustains the weary. He awakens me morning by morning, wakens my ear to listen like one being taught. Isaiah 50:4

This verse from today’s Daily Encouragement is one of the best verses I have ever come across. To think that God awakens me each morning, and not only that, awakens my ear to listen like one being taught is an awesome revelation to me. Read the rest of this entry »

I’m Your Huckleberry ~ 7-21-11

In this morning’s Daily Encouragement I said, “I get up early—sometimes so early it worries Sherry—and I am almost always excited to start my day here at this desk, pounding these keys. I am most excited when I write these encouragements.”

I do love writing the encouragements best, but I love writing all the other things, too. Poems, short stories, fiction, true life, novels; you name it, if I’m writing it I am one happy ol’ dude! Read the rest of this entry »

I’m Your Huckleberry ~ 7-20-11

In this morning’s encouragement I said, “We all struggle to understand what life is about; we get confused by all the information thrown at us from so many directions, and we begin to wonder what is true and what is deception.”

Football is very much a game of deception, and I learned some life lessons playing it. Read the rest of this entry »

I’m Your Huckleberry ~ 7-19-11

When it comes to choosing the path we will follow in this lifetime, most people tend to take the easy road because there are so many things more appealing to our carnal minds and bodies on that path. It’s a live for today mentality, with no thought to what comes after we are finished with this earthly life. Read the rest of this entry »
