All These Things

Jesus hugGod wants us to be at peace with Him and each other, and to be so, we must first seek His wisdom and heart. Matthew Chapter 5—often referred to as the beatitudes—seems designed to guide us to the wisdom that comes from knowing and loving God. God desires for us to be in Him, Him in us, loved, and being loved.

In Matthew 6:33, Jesus says, “But seek first his Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”  The emphasis in those words should be on the word “all”. When we seek God, He will make us all He intends us to be, and we’ll become peacemakers, not because we desire peace, but because He desires it.

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God. Matthew 5:9

Will They Know?

8-23-17 5 quote

And, we sometimes get so wrapped up in doing things for the people we love, we forget to actually love them. Garth Brooks had a hit song called, “If Tomorrow Never Comes”, in which he poses the question; when we’re gone from this world, will those we loved know we loved them.

Don’t leave your loved ones, don’t end a phone conversation, don’t close your eyes at night, without letting them know how much they mean to you. And the same goes for God; tell Him, tell him often how much you love Him.

Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered. “You are worried and upset about many things, but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:41

Where We Are Now

Our desire to love God with all our heart and soul should be our quest—our reason for living—and if ever we feel as though we’ve failed, or feel we don’t love Him as much as we should, we should not despair, but press on.

For though we diligently seek God, we will sometimes feel we’re far from finding Him. And, it is at those times we should hold onto the hope that we are always getting closer, and continue to strain toward what is ahead, forgetting what is behind.

God knows our every need and we would do well to allow Him to provide for them. We should travel light, carrying nothing and knowing when we reach the destination He leads us to, our provisions will have been delivered there prior to our arrival.

4-5-17 2 quote

Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is head.

Philippians 3:13
