What’s In A Name?

I’ve been playing fantasy football for about eighteen years, and for the last ten or so have been in a league with family members. I love it, because it gives me an opportunity to interact with my grandsons who I seldom get to see.

Over the years, I’ve re-named my team, oh, probably… 25-30 times. I get a kick out of it, especially when I can entice Nathan—my youngest grandson—to ask what the heck the new name means. When he does, the answer can be quite lengthy—a small novel—and, in my opinion (hopefully Nathan’s too) quite entertaining.

Get Used To It!

… or not.

It seems we too often get used to things and, even when they are beautiful or special to us in some way, we allow them to become just part of the scenery. Or, in our relationships—spouses, relatives, friends—we stop seeing what makes them special to us.

We should strive to never get used to the beauty and love with which God has blessed us.

That’s it For Now

We’re back from the Odessa book signing, and, once again, the dog was sure glad to see us!

We held our eighth and last book signing event Saturday for my book of daily encouragements, Be Still. It was at the Hastings in Odessa, Texas, and was one of the best we’ve had; not because we sold a lot of books—which we did—but because it was the end of an experience. Read the rest of this entry »
