Waiting…

crepes 6-19 5 quoteSometimes, it seems wicked men flourish while good men suffer and perish; evil runs rampant, and good cannot be found. That’s when we must remember God is, indeed, in charge. At times, it seems God has abandoned us, but this is never the case. He’s always with us, and if we simply stay focused on Him, we’ll be at peace and know He is surely working His will in all things. Even though I’ve gained some understanding, I haven’t scratched the surface. With each morsel of knowledge God gives me, my hunger grows, and like a baby bird waits with open mouth and cries out to its mother for food, I wait with open heart and cry out to the for more knowledge of God and His love.

All These Things

Jesus hugGod wants us to be at peace with Him and each other, and to be so, we must first seek His wisdom and heart. Matthew Chapter 5—often referred to as the beatitudes—seems designed to guide us to the wisdom that comes from knowing and loving God. God desires for us to be in Him, Him in us, being loved by Him, and loving Him.

In Matthew 6:33, Jesus says, “But seek first his Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”  The emphasis in those words should be on the word “all”. When we seek God, He will make us all He intends us to be, and we’ll become peacemakers, not because we desire peace, but because He desires it.

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God. Matthew 5:9

A Need to Know Basis

duffer

An “average” golfer is just a little better than a duffer like me!

An average golfer asked a professional golfer, “How do you make the ball spin and come back when hitting an approach shot onto the green?” The pro asked the duffer, “How often do you land on the green with your approach shot?” The duffer said, “Hardly ever.” The pro said, “Then why do you want to know?”

We often puzzle over spiritual details before we know even the basic things. God will increase our wisdom and understanding, moving us toward Him at a pace He knows will suit us so we’ll be able to accomplish our part of His plan. He knows what we need and when we need it.

For to one is given through the Spirit the word of wisdom, and to another the word of knowledge, according to the same Spirit; 1 Corinthians 12:8

No Artificial Ingredients

When we love God, we will receive the knowledge He reveals to us and we will not be deceived. His wisdom is pure and contains no artificial ingredients. It’s the real thing—not tampered with and never diluted.
