My One Prayer

For over 25 years, Sherry and I have read and discussed a daily encouragement every morning. Currently, we’re re-reading my book “Be Still”, and today’s encouragement started with Jesus, speaking to the disciples in John 16:24, saying, “Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete.” The encouragement ends with me asking this question: “If you could ask Jesus for one thing, what would it be?”

At first, I couldn’t think what my one prayer would be, but then it struck me that what I would ask for is something Jesus asked the Father for…

It Had to Be A Sign!

Just so y’all know, for most of my years, I’ve taken great joy in playing jokes on my little brother. And I will also admit, he has humbled a bit in recent years. (And… he doesn’t do Facebook, so y’all can comment freely on this post.) And then Charlie just laughed and laughed.

I was just minding my own business this morning, washing the car and listening to the country oldies station out of Houston, when a song came on that I thought had to be a sign from above. You see, I’d been thinking I needed to call my little brother, and when the Ken Mashburn anthem began to play, well… I think you can see what I mean. I just figured there was no point in delaying it any longer. (I’ll call him after he’s had time to see this post.) Click on his name to hear the song (Hint: It’s by the late great, Mac Davis.) . And any of you that know him will most heartily agree the song was written with Ken in mind.
