I’m Your Huckleberry ~ 7-31-11

When I decided to publish Be Still… and know that I am God, I didn’t do it with the intent of selling thousands of books and making a bunch of money. I did it for no other reason than to honor my mother, and give the book to her as a show of my tremendous love, respect and appreciation for her. Read the rest of this entry »

Walk A Mile With My Shoe

Remember the kid I saw pulling his shoe down the sidewalk? If you don’t, you need to read my post When Does Weird Cross the Line? before you read any more of this one. I ran into the kid again this morning, and things got interesting—as in… we’ve crossed the line. Read the rest of this entry »

Daily Encouragement – 7/31

July 31

The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord; he directs it like a watercourse wherever he pleases. Proverbs 21:1

This is a comforting thought. Too many times we see and hear of rulers who are evil and wicked, and we wonder how God can allow them to be in charge of a country or region. I like to believe God is in charge, whether that evil ruler thinks so or not. I am of the opinion that sooner or later the bad king will answer for the terrible things he has done to his people. I’m Your Huckleberry ~ 7-30-11

If you read the story I posted on this blog today—When Does Weird Cross the Line—be sure to come back and take a look at tomorrow’s story, Walk A Mile With My Shoe. It’s the continuing saga about the young man I encounter every now and then when I’m walking at the neighborhood park.

I saw him again this morning and things took a dramatic turn. Read the rest of this entry »

When Does Weird Cross the Line?

I know this will sound strange—especially since it’s coming from me—but when does weird cross the line?

A few months ago, I was walking the dog, pretty much minding my own business, and here comes this kid walking down the sidewalk toward me… pulling a shoe. Read the rest of this entry »

Daily Encouragement – 7/30

July 30

Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:4

Have you ever seen a little girl sitting in her father’s lap while the parent read to her, told her a story, or simply talked to her? I can recall such scenes, and I can see the child gazing up at her father, watching his lips move, his eyes sparkling with love for her, and his entire face beaming at the marvel of her. The look on the child’s face is one of wonder and delight. This is how God wants us to look at Him. Read the rest of this entry »

I’m Your Huckleberry ~ 7-29-11

From today’s Daily Encouragement:

We are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Ephesians 2:10

That’s what I’m talking about! Here’s the thing that amazes me most: He created me just as I am, flaws and all. He could have made me look like a movie star, made me as smart as Einstein and as strong as Hercules, but He already had some of those kinds of folks, and He needed me to be me. Bubblegum Cigars

Do they still put those paper bands around cigars? You know; the ones we used to give our girlfriend in the fifth grade; explaining to her she should wear it as a ring to show that she liked you. “Like” being a word for love, because when you’re ten, you don’t say that word to a girl. Blech! Read the rest of this entry »

I’m Your Huckleberry ~ 7-28-11

Does it take a special occasion or moment to cause you to tell your spouse how much you love them, how much they mean to you, or how much you appreciate them? Does a coworker or employee have to do something really good for you to compliment them, and tell them what a great job they’re doing; how much you appreciate them? Does a friend have to do something nice for you before you can tell them how glad you are they’re in your life? Does it take a holiday or birthday to get you to call a relative?
