Book signing #4 – San Marcos ROCKS!!

We had a long day, but a fabulous day! So many friends came out to support us, and we met a lot of new ones, too! Mayor Susan Narvaiz and husband Mike met us for lunch at my favorite place, Dan’s Hamburgers, prior to the 4th Be Still book signing event at Hastings, then joined us at the event. Mom’s Cooking – Survival 102

I don’t know, man…. Read the rest of this entry »

Yes, But It’s A Dry Heat

I gotta tell ya folks, a person doesn’t have to look far to find a subject to write about for his blog. FaceBook will serve up some doozies on a pretty regular basis. Take this little chat I had with an old classmate from Arizona this morning. How could I resist? Read the rest of this entry »

But in grade school, it seemed like there were seasons for weird stuff. Read the rest of this entry »

This is a work of fiction for the most part. I’m not sure my first kiss was from Lisa (my best friend Barry’s cousin, by the way). But it’s the memory of that spinning bottle, and that fear coursing through a young boys brain and body that this little ditty is about. The names, the faces, the places… you pick your own, and go back when. That’s what I did. Read the rest of this entry »

Daily Encouragement – 4/30

April 30

Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God. Psalm 42:5 Read the rest of this entry »

Bunk & Jewel On The Road

In a couple of earlier posts, I mentioned my grandparents. All the grandkids called them Ma and Pa, but to the rest of the world they were known as Bunk (Pa) and Jewel (Ma). Bunk’s real name was Luther Benjamin, so I can see how he might want to be called something else. Just sayin. How he got the nickname, Bunk, I don’t know. Read the rest of this entry »

Go Get Us Some Firewood, Ski!

Here’s a quick little fun story for ya. The names have not been changed because it doesn’t really matter, and if it does, Ken and Ski can sue me! Surely they’ve heard the term, “You can’t get blood from a turnip.” Which in southern-speak translates to, “I ain’t got nothin’, so knock yerself out!” Read the rest of this entry »
