I’m Your Huckleberry ~ 7-25-11

In my post this morning, Dancin’ With The Dog, I talk about how my little dog, Dockers, drives me crazy by dancing and dodging when I walk toward her. She has other habits which are similarly aggravating. She’s doing one of them right now.

We aren’t doing our afternoon walks right now, because at five o’clock—when we normally walk—it is just too darn hot. I can handle it, but I worry about the old dog. We’ve tried a couple of times, and even when I lead her on a short walk, she’s panting pretty hard by the time we get home. I had to carry her back one day.

What she’s doing right now is coming in and out of my office. She comes in, stares at me, leaves, then repeats the process; over, and over, and over. I swear she’s like a kid you’ve told you’d take to McDonald’s. Every few minutes they come in and say, “Are we going yet?” You know what I mean?

Dockers is the same way about a lot of things. She seems to know what time it is and what’s supposed to happen at that particular time. If it’s six-thirty, it’s time for dinner; if it’s seven o’clock, it’s time for her treats. Until I take care of the situation, she won’t leave me alone!

Yep. She drives me crazy sometimes. But she’s a good ol’ dog.

I better go fix dinner.
